JoeHello and welcome. My name is Joe Geraci, and I have been a train buff as far back as I can remember. Actually my love for trains began with our Lionel Train Set. My brother and I spent many happy hours playing with that Santa Fe 2343 set each Christmas Season.

Having grown up in the fifties I was fortunate enough to see steam engines still in operation before they were phased out and replaced by the diesels. Back then you could roam freely by the tracks and rail yards. My friends and I would love to go and watch the trains pass. On many a Sunday my dad would drive by the New York Central Train Station, or the Nickel Plate Station or the Lehigh Valley Train Station just so I could watch the passenger trains arrive and leave the terminal. I have been hooked ever since.Joe

In the nineteen seventies after moving to the Washington, DC area I had the opportunity to be reunited with an era long since gone. The Washington Chapter of the National Railway Society in cooperation with Southern Railway each year would offer a number of excursion trips through Virginia. This not only offered me the opportunity to photograph these magnificent machines but also the opportunity to ride behind them. Many of the photos you see on this web site were taken during this time frame.

This web site has been a dream of mine for a long time. Someone once said to me "Memories do not belong in boxes, they need to be shared and enjoyed." This is my way of sharing with you the beauty and splendor of such magnificent beasts. In the near future I will be adding pictures of the Alaskan Railway, shots of Myrtle, the Sugar Cane Steam Engine in Maui, the White Pass Railway, and others. I hope you enjoy your visit and please come back.

Thanks,
Joe
